10 “Randies” and 47 Things that Will Make You Rich and Happy

I’m re-reading the most influential book in my business life — Atlas Shrugged — and it inspired me to make a list of “Randies” —
philosophies from author, Ayn Rand, that will allow you to become rich and happy.
- Take 100% personal responsibility for everything in your life. Everything. — “I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”
- Practice enlightened self-interest – “In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst.”
- You have a right to be happy — “Learn to value yourself, which means: to fight for your happiness”
- Get over it – “Guilt is a rope that wears thin”
- Love yourself, first and foremost — “To say I love you one must first know how to say the I”
- What other people think about you is none of your business — “It’s not advisable, James, to venture unsolicited opinions”
- You have a right to be rich — “If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose- because it contains all the others- the fact that they were the people who created the phrase “to make money”. No other language or nation had ever used these words before; men had always thought of wealth as a static quantity- to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth has to be created.
- You are a hero — “Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it’s yours.”
- Never settle for mediocrity — “I can accept anything, except what seems to be the easiest for most people: the half-way, the almost, the just-about, the in-between.”
- Raise your values and live them — “Love is the expression of one’s values, the greatest reward you can earn for the moral qualities you have achieved in your character and person, the emotional price paid by one man for the joy he receives from the virtues of another.”

I’m a few hundred pages into Atlas Shrugged and I love it.
After I finish AS in a week, I’ll have to tell you which book most affected my business,
